American Express has announced a series of updates to its Platinum Card® Membership Rewards program and benefits, with changes beginning in October 2025 and continuing through December 2026.
Everyday Rewards Partnership Coming Soon
The company has confirmed that Everyday Rewards will soon join as a Membership Rewards® transfer partner. This will give cardholders the option to redeem points at Woolworths, BIG W, BWS, and EG Ampol. A launch date will be announced closer to rollout.
Airline Transfer Partner Changes (from 15 December 2025)
American Express will be adjusting its airline transfer options:
- Thai Royal Orchid Plus will be removed as a transfer partner.
- Several major airlines will require more Membership Rewards® points per mile, including British Airways, Cathay, Emirates, Etihad, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Virgin Atlantic.
For instance, the British Airways transfer rate will change from 2 points = 1 Avios to 3 points = 1 Avios, while Emirates will shift from 3 points = 1 Skywards Mile to 4 points = 1 Skywards Mile.
Other redemption options, such as gift cards, statement credits, and most transfer partners, will remain unaffected. Point earning rates are unchanged, and points will continue to have no expiry while the account remains active.
Membership Rewards Terms to Be Updated
The Membership Rewards Terms & Conditions will be revised on 15 December 2025. According to Amex, the new version will feature clearer language and a simplified structure.
